As an educator for 37 years I have been fortunate to have vast experiences with the schools as a parent, volunteer, teacher and administrator at the school and at the district level. I served as the first PALS volunteer coordinator at Brookside Middle. I coordinated and expanded volunteer and School-Business Partnerships at Laurel Nokomis and Ashton schools. I formed a community outreach program with the Laurel Civic Association to teach parents reading strategies. This program was selected as PALS Outstanding School Project at Laurel Nokomis. At Ashton, my volunteer and I were recognized at the PALS Volunteer Team of the Year.
I hold a Bachelor and Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathologist. I taught severely speech and language challenged children for a number of years prior to becoming an Exceptional Student Education Liaison. After earning my Doctorate in Education Leadership, I appointed as an assistant principal. I was selected to serve at the district level as Supervisor of Professional Development, Teacher Appraisal and School Improvement, as well as the administrator for FDLRS, which serves the children and families of students with special challenges.
As a member of the TeamUp Council I plan to use my knowledge as an educator to help support students, parents, teachers, administrators and the community. I will work closely with the council and volunteers to support them in meeting the needs of students. Volunteering is my next challenge in life as I believe “All Children are Special!”
